Synchronising Panel is designed for synchronising check purpose prior to circuit breaker closing operation. The numerical synchro check relay installed on the panel is used to measure and to verify that voltage, phase angle, frequency and phase rotation across line side and bus side of the circuit breaker are electrically synchronised prior to circuit breaker closing operation. It could also be done manually by observing the synchroscope, voltmeters and frequency meters installed on the panel. Circuit breaker closing in out-of-sync condition may cause significant impact to the power system and also damaging the circuit breaker due to the high short circuit currents. Synchronising check application may reduce system disturbance and protect the circuit breaker from damages which would reduce the service life of the circuit breaker, or in worst case, causing permanent irreparable damage.
